Ingles Adolescentes 5 - Villa Mercedes

April, 2nd. 2020.

Hello darlings! How are you these days? How are you keeping up with quarenting?

Let's make a quick revision about our last topic.

Past Simple

We use past simple to talk about finished actions that happened in the past.
Remember we have two different verbs, those which are regular and the irregular ones.

Today we are going to work with the negative and interrogative form

Pay a look to the formation of the tenses. We will need an auxiliary verb, in this case DID. But be careful, if we are going to use the auxiliary verb the main verb won't change, we are going to use the infinitive form.

📌For the negative form:
We use the past simple negative to talk about thing that didn't happen in the past.
 Subject + DID + NOT + Infinitve verb
We can also use the short form
DID NOT = DIDN'T
Example:
  • The cafe didn't open at eight o'clock.
  • We didn't watch a film in class.

📌For the interrogative form:
We use past simple questions to ask about things that happen in the past.
Example:
  • What time did he finish work?
  • Did you listen to music last night? Yes, I did. / No, I didn't.

Practice

1). Complete the sentences with the past simple, negative form.
  • My dad played tennis. He ________ (play) volleyball.
  • We cooked fish. We __________ (cook) meat.
  • In the school holidays, my brother worked in a factory. He ________ (work)in a shop.
  • I used my mobile to send messages. I _______ (use) the computer.
  • My friends climbed a tree. They ________ (climb) a mountain.
  • I opened the window. I ________ (open) a door.
2). Use the past simple negative form, to make sentences about activities you did yesterday.
Ejemplo
  • I / Cook ------> I didn't cook pastries yesterday.
  • I / Watch ------> ________________________
  • My mum / listen -----> ___________________
  • My classmates / speak -----> ______________
  • I / Study -----> _________________________
  • My friends and I / Play ----> _______________
  • This class / Start -----> ___________________
HoMeWoRk
From your workbook, work on page N° 28.
Next class I'm going to send you the answers.

That's all for today!Enjoy your weekend and stay at home!

Ingles Adolescentes 4 - Villa Mercedes

April, 2nd. 2020.

Hello again kids!

Today we are going to start with a quick revision.

Copy on your notebooks.

Comparative Adjectives

Usamos los adjetivos comparativos para comparar dos cosas, animales, ideas, etc. Solamente DOS.

Example.
              Maga is taller than me.
¿Que estoy comparando? La altura de dos personas, en este caso la de Maga y la mia.

              BTS is newer than Rebelde way.
¿Que estoy comparando? La "edad" de dos grupos musicales.

              Mecha is crazier than Kiara.
¿Que estoy comparando? 😉

Formation
Super easy. We add "ER" to the adjective.
Solo le agregamos ER al final del adjetivo

Old ----> Older
New ------> Newer
Fast -----> Faster

Por supuesto que tenemos algunas excepciones a la regla, por ejemplo:
Let's practice
A). Make the comparative form of the following adjectives
Fast: FASTER
Fat:
Silly:
Small:
Strong:
Tall:
Slow:
Long:

Si es necesario buscamos el significado de cada adjetivo en el diccionario.

B). Complete the sentences.
  • A hippo is ________(FAT) than a koala. FATTER
  • A monkey is _______ (SILLY) than a worm.
  • A bee is ________ (SMALL) than a crocodrile.
